Pet Ophthalmology
During an eye examination, we may use an ophthalmoscope (a magnifying light to examine the eye) or a fluorescein dye test, which glows under UV light to reveal any corneal damage. A tonometer is also used to measure the pressure within the eye, helping us detect conditions like glaucoma early.
Advanced Treatment and Surgical Options
Many eye conditions can be managed medically with drops or medication, while others may need surgical intervention. Our clinic is fully equipped to perform a variety of eye surgeries, including:
- Enucleation (eye removal) for severe glaucoma or cancer
- Entropion and ectropion surgery to correct abnormal eyelid positions
- Eyelid tumour removal
- Cherry eye repair in dogs
Your pet’s eyesight plays a vital role in their comfort and confidence. With timely diagnosis and expert care, we can relieve discomfort, restore vision where possible, and help your pet see the world clearly again.
If your pet has a more serious problem, our vets also work closely with specialist veterinary ophthalmologists and we are able to arrange referral if required.
