Grooming & Clipping

Keeping your pet well-groomed and comfortable is an important part of their overall health and wellbeing. While we don’t provide full grooming services, our team can assist with essential care such as nail clipping and clipping of long-haired cats when sedation or anaesthesia is required.

Regular grooming at home or by a trained professional groomer is an important part of keeping your pet healthy and comfortable. Some of the benefits include:

Healthier skin and coat

Regular brushing and grooming helps prevent mats, tangles, and skin problems.

Cleanliness and comfort

Keeping your pet’s coat tidy makes them more comfortable and your home cleaner.

Early detection of health issues

Grooming gives you a chance to check for lumps, skin changes, wounds, or signs of pain.

Improved behaviour and routine

Gentle, consistent grooming helps your pet become accustomed to handling and builds trust.

Stronger bond

Spending time grooming your pet strengthens your connection and provides reassurance through regular, positive contact.
Nail Clipping and Checks

Regular nail care is also vital for both dogs and cats. Overgrown nails can split, curl into the paw pad, or make walking painful. We recommend checking your pet’s nails every few weeks, if you’re unsure what to look for, our staff can demonstrate how to safely assess and trim nails at home.

If you prefer not to do it yourself, our nurses are happy to handle it for you. A quick nail trim appointment can help prevent injuries, reduce discomfort, and keep your pet happy on their feet. Sometimes dogs can become very distressed and fearful when having their nails clips, so if this sounds like your pet, let us know and we can do the procedure under sedation if required.

Cat Grooming for Medical Reasons

Cats with long or thick coats can sometimes develop matting, especially as they age or become arthritic and less flexible. Matts can pull on the skin, cause irritation, and even hide sores or parasites. Our trained veterinary nurses can gently clip and groom your cat under safe and stress-free conditions. In some cases, mild sedation or potentially anaesthesia may be required to ensure your cat’s comfort and safety during the process. If you think this might be necessary for your cat, just drop in or call us to discuss their needs further.
